Aspects
When a planet is at a distinct angle from another planet, they form a relationship with each other for a period of time. These relationships are called aspects.
There are five major aspects you should know about. They are the conjunction, sextile, square, trine and opposition. There are also some minor aspects as well, but we'll get into those later.
So what do they all mean? Remember that they represent different relationships, which means they each give different energetic dynamics between two planets. It helps to think of the planets as people and imagine what it would look like if they were interacting with each other in different ways, depending on what aspect they're in. Let's dive in to the unique qualities of each aspect.
Conjunction
0° - Hard Aspect - Two planets are sitting right on top of each other. They're so close, they might not be able to distinguish themselves from one another. Their combined energy intensifies their qualities, which could technically be a bad thing if they aren't compatible and don't get along well. Either way, aspects of intensity demand that you take action for a favorable outcome.
Sextile
60° - Soft Aspect - A little closer together than a trine, this harmonious aspect is a little more flirty. Perhaps the two planets are about to go on a date, and they're both feeling over the moon and complimenting each other on each of their best qualities. They have chemistry and you can see a potential between them, energy that can be directed if you choose to take advantage of it.
Square
90° - Hard Aspect - A sharp right angle causes two planets to challenge each other. They both want to assert themselves, so their energies are intense. With each of them at such high energy, tension is very common here. But this is a perfect opportunity to find a solution to an issue that these two keep bringing up. Pay attention to where the tension is coming from and ask yourself if you're being stubborn about something. The planets are calling you out to come up with a resolution.
Trine
120° - Soft Aspect - The two planets in aspect are good friends. They're supportive, enjoy each other's company and have a nice time together. Maybe too nice. Sure, they probably bring out the best in each other, but they're likely to just chill when they hang out and not get anything done. It's up to you to get these two out on the town and make something awesome happen. Fun, lucky opportunities are out there, as long as you don't ignore them.
Opposition
180° - Hard Aspect - On either side of the zodiac wheel, the two planets are as far away from each other as possible, each trying to rise up as if on a teeter-totter. They both have their own wants and needs, but unfortunately their ideas of what's best may even oppose. Finding balance between the two is key here. Luckily, since opposites attract, the two planets desire to get along and make a compromise, with you as the mediator.
